Different Styles for a Rustic Dining Table

A rustic dining table can be hearty and country feeling. You can also repurpose a lot of heirloom pieces but make it work in your own dream dining room. This doesn’t have to just be in place in a log home. You can find ways to really just take a basic plain oak table in a new design direction.

You can just use the table that you already have and decorate around it. You could paint it or sand it down. Then just bring in more rustic elements but keep it quite modern. Another option for rustic dining chairs is going to be leather. This could just be a basic leather style. It will need to have substantial wood legs or distressed leather so it doesn’t look too modern. Look for subtle curves instead of a basic contemporary parson’s chair. Any kind of fabric should be either a cow print or a Southwest kind of design style.

If you have a glass top table then this would usually seem a little bit too modern. However you could try putting branches or antlers around the base. This will show through the top. Again you could leave it in the natural wood or just paint it for a more contemporary kind of look and it’s a going to be an inexpensive DIY project that makes a big impact.

Windsor chairs can work with this design style. Just paint it black or a soft gray. Then look for weathered wood benches or top. This is a classic silhouette that you may already have in your home. You will need to break the stereotypes about this design style just by using an entirely new color palette. Stay away from the traditional green, brown, and plaid style and make it fresh and new.

Natural log dining room tables can be quite expensive. They are usually oversized and rarely have an expandable leaf so you can make it smaller. You’ll really need to find more balance with your chairs. Break up the set by just going with less expensive wood versions.
