Ideas for a Wooden Kitchen

A wooden kitchen is going to bring in a rustic feeling for farmhouse style kitchens. It’s going to be quite expensive. In this case, you need to make sure that you’re spending your money on an enduring kind of design style that can transition into several different kinds of directions. You can always use painting kitchen cabinets color ideas on some of your islands or lower cabinets to lighten up the space.

If you already have a lot of painted cabinets then really going into this design style brings warmth into your room. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to get rid of everything that is already in your space. Keep your painted cabinetry. In fact you could even go for some of the country kind of furniture just if you went for an ivory kind of color. Sage green will also work on your cabinets too, but it does require you to have a lot of neutral tile. Similarly there should be slightly high-end counters such as a granite or marble.

Then you’re really going to want to go into subtle wooden accents. This could be oversized platters on the wall. We see a lot of these at stores like Pier 1 and you can really use them in the place of artwork. You can also look for a lot of the oversized spoon art that is very popular right now because it does subtly bring in that wood tone.

You can also just go for a butcher block island or even saddle barstools. These are going to be rustic touches. Usually they would use a lot of pine which would seem a little bit too busy just because of all of the wood grains and knots. However, since you’re using it in smaller areas you get the advantages of the warm color without the disadvantages of all of the expense and the busy patterns.

One of the most difficult design directions to take this into is going to be the modern and contemporary design styles. These tend to rely quite heavily on painted as well as metallic finishes. However, you can really make this quite graphic. You can even find printed laminate backsplashes. It’s going to have a very ornate looking wood grain. You could even repurpose these materials into your artwork. It’s a way to get these items in your space in such a way that they are still pretty easy to clean and take care of.

Another style that you can blend this into is going to be more of that vintage kind of design style. This is going to be one of the more expensive but also one of the more elegant design directions that you can go in. You are going to want to go with rich cherry wood cabinets or dark wood kitchen cabinets. The wood grain showing should be quite minimal. There should also be marble countertops. This is going to keep it from seeming too rustic. Bright white fixtures and drawer pulls are also a must. However, you’re going to want to stay with pale green or white walls. Bring in checkerboard flooring. This gives you an overall classic look. It allows the wood kitchen to shine without really overtaking the entire space.
