Kitchen tile is a basic in most rooms but you can really make yours stand out. You can use this on all different kinds of locations in your space. Then of course you’ll still need to coordinate it so it works together. A really great way to do this is to just give a lot of consideration to a theme and then find materials that will compliment this.
Kitchen floor tile comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. If you are going with a kitchen ceramic tile then you really might want to change this up a little bit just because so many other people have this in their homes. On one hand it’s good to be neutral just because it will appeal to a lot of people and you can have it in your home for a very long time. However, you still do need to share your personality. A great way to do this is with color. You could mimic much more expensive clay tiles just by going with a kind of peach or an orange color. This can also really compliment a Tuscan kind of design style beautifully.
You can use this on a lot more than just floors and backsplashes. Since it is so inexpensive you could even use this on your walls, furniture tabletops, or even your countertops. However, you will really need to consider the kind of material that you go with. You can save a lot of money by going with a granite tile instead of a slab. You will want to make sure that you aren’t compromising too much even if you are doing a DIY project yourself. The other really important thing to consider is cleanliness. Grout lines can feel a little bit dirty so you’ll really want to minimize these in any kind of the kitchen countertop.

Glass backsplashs are very popular and for good reason. It really does give you a wider range of colors. It’s a way to tie together a lot of the elements of your room. You may be lucky enough to find one with the color of your appliances, the color of your countertop, and the color of the cabinetry. This really creates a color palette from the things that you already have in your space. Often times you don’t count these things as colors that every single piece of material does have a hue to it and you can really embrace this and incorporate it. It will really give you a totally unique kind of color scheme.
Another way to change up the shapes of the material is just to go with a pattern. This doesn’t have to be complicated it can just use a lot of different interlocking squares and working with wide rectangles in various sizes. This is going to give a lot of interest although it can be a little bit of a pain to actually lay it down.
Another area where you can use this is of course in kitchen backsplash tile ideas. This is really your chance to bring in color and compliment the natural wood tones that you already have going on in your space. If you have an all white kitchen then you’re really going to want to add in pattern, even if you are going to go with a pretty basic tile or even just a white tile. This is really what is going to give a high end feeling as well as interest. For instance for a French kind of theme this turns out well but could also work with traditional rooms. You could try going with a Harlequin pattern. This is a lot of interlocking diamonds. You could bring in a coordinating color or just go with different finishes of the same color of tile.
Another really popular decorating idea is to go with a stone tile. This can compliment a beautiful granite countertop. You may just have laminate countertops in the kitchen and you really want granite but it’s just too expensive. You can really compromise with this just by going with a natural stone backsplash. The other really great thing about natural stone is that it does bring in a lot of really beautiful tans, beiges, and whites. This is perfect if you have a neutral room that doesn’t have a lot of impact or possibly a neutral room that seems a little bit mismatched if you have a lot of different colors of white.
